The total property size is 1207 acres, of which 400 acres are fully developed, operational, and profitable banana farms. The rest of the area is broken up into: infrastructure, some wet lands, savanah, and farm land.
The property is located along the Monkey River, having some 3800 m of river front (2300 m straight line, 3800 m following the riverbank).
The banana farm is a member of the Banana Growers Association, identified as Farm 9. All fruit harvested is sold and exported through the BGA.
BGA has a contract with Fyffes PLC, which has been the buyer of bananas from Belize for the last more than 40 years. The market is in the UK and Europe, where Belize bananas enjoy a preferential market. All fruit is shipped from the Big Creek Port, located some 25 km from the farm.
Farm 9 was started in 2010 and reached 400 acres in 2016. It has two production areas within the property (150 acres and 250 acres, respectively), each with a packing facility and other buildings. Both sections are interconnected with the road and cableway, allowing flexibility and efficiencies on harvesting days. Each packing shed has the capacity to produce 2000 standard boxes or 1500 special pack boxes per day.
The remaining lands on the property could be developed for forestry, coconut plantations, or many other types of uses.
The property has ocean access through the Monkey River, about 3 miles away. Opposite the property, on the southern side of the Monkey River, is Payne’s Creek Natural Park, which consists of almost 40,000 acres of nature reserve. The riverfront and into the property are full of wildlife such as crocodiles, jaguars, howler monkeys, varieties of iguanas, and a wealth of birdlife.
